Our laboratories and test facilities reflect state-of-the-art technology and mirror both commercial and defense operational environments.Description WORK LOCATION: Nairobi, Kenya (U.S. Embassy)  PROJECT DURATION: 36  MONTHS WITH EXPECTED FOLLOW-ON WORK WITHIN THE DoS PROGRAM Providing Nairobi with a full range of critical architectural and construction quality assurance and management and technical oversight of the Nairobi CAA project, performing technical inspections, monitoring the contractor's quality control program, and reviewing project drawings and specifications to ensure compliance Ensuring that the contractor is performing the required contract work in accordance with the design documents Reading design/construction drawings and understanding design narratives and calculations, reviewing engineering shop drawings and determine if the contractor has complied with the final design parameters Observing onsite construction and determining if construction elements are being installed, formed, and executed properly Performing quality assurance tasks, ensuring contractor's work is properly inspected and corrective actions take place, ensuring materials meet contract, reviewing contractor submittals for compliance with contract requirements, and resolving conflicts Monitoring the construction contractor’s quality assurance and safety program, observing onsite construction and determining if construction elements are being installed, formed, and executed properly Monitoring construction progress vis-à-vis the project schedule and submit weekly progress reports with recommendations based on the technical review of project documents and field inspections Performing technical inspections of the architectural elements of the project. Understanding and interpreting drawings in his/her discipline and understanding the principles of his/her discipline and how it fits in with other disciplines Reviewing shop drawings and submittals from the contractor and determining if coordination with other disciplines is necessary in addition to monitoring on-going construction work identifying problems or non-compliance with design or contract specifications Preparing construction reports detailing construction progress and identifying any problems with the construction process related to the incumbent area of expertise, after problems are discovered, evaluating contractor’s proposed remedy, formulating solutions for the Project Director, working on the construction site will be performed to U.S. standards Other duties as assigned by the Project Director/COR FILLING THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON AWARD Requirements An architecture degree from an accredited program and a minimum of seven years of experience required on construction projects of similar scope and value to the project supported by this Task Order Design office experience shall not count toward an employee’s experience Overseas experience preferred Knowledge of International Codes required Knowledge of Construction Safety regulations, i.e. EM 385-1-1, OSHA, etc. Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, and Word required
