Context

The IAVE–IBM Reskilling Revolution Africa (RRA) – SkillsBuild Project is a regional initiative designed to bridge digital and professional skills gaps among young people across Africa. Through a partnership between the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) and IBM, the project provides free online learning via the IBM SkillsBuild platform, focusing on equipping youth and adult job seekers with relevant, in-demand skills that enhance employability. The initiative is being rolled out across Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Africa, with a combined target of 35,000 learners, including university students, TVET graduates, NEET youth, and adult job seekers. A significant portion of these learners have limited exposure to digital tools and require structured, supportive guidance to navigate the online courses successfully. To ensure high-quality learning experiences and improved completion rates, IAVE is recruiting online volunteer facilitators who will serve as mentors, guides, and motivators. The facilitators will support learner onboarding, provide ongoing engagement, offer technical and learning assistance, monitor progress, and help learners translate their acquired skills into practical opportunities. This assignment provides volunteers with a meaningful opportunity to contribute to youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and social impact across Africa—while gaining facilitation experience within an international development program.
