The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) was established through an Act of Parliament published in November 2011 to provide for civilian oversight over the work of the police in Kenya. The inaugural Board was sworn into office in June 2012. Vision: A robust civilian accountability mechanism that promotes public trust and confidence in the National Police Service. Mission: To conduct impartial and independent investigations, inspections, audits and monitoring of the National Police Service to prevent impunity and enhance professionalism in the interest of the public Job Purpose Responsible for coordinating receiving, sorting and processing complaints on Police misconduct at the Call Centre. Knowledge, Experience and qualifications required For appointment to this grade, an officer must have the following qualifications: Cumulative service period of nine (9) years, three (3) of which must have been at the grade of Senior Officer in either Call Centre or Complaints Management at IPOA 7; Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Law, Criminology, Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Public Relations, Sociology or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution; Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; Membership to a relevant professional body where applicable; and proficiency in computer application; and Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
