The SABIS® International School - Runda in Kenya will soon open its doors. The school will be located on a campus of 80,000 m² within the Runda neighborhood. The state-of-the-art campus will include, in its first phase, academic buildings for Kindergarten and the lower school, a mini-gymnasium and pool, playground dedicated for the Kindergarten, and playground for the lower school, a performing arts centre and cafeteria in addition to an administration block and services building. Like other schools in the SABIS® Network, SABIS® International School - Runda will be a multinational, non-selective, co-educational, independent, English medium school serving both the local and international communities. English will be used as the main language of instruction in delivering an international curriculum. Having achieved fluency in English, SABIS® International School - Runda students will be prepared for admission to top universities around the world and will be competitive in the global marketplace.Job Purpose Ensuring students’ success and helping them reach their full potential by implementing the SABIS® curriculum and philosophy and through the consistent use of the SABIS® teaching methods. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver high quality swimming lessons to students of varying age groups and skill levels Ensure student safety and provide close supervision during all swimming sessions Track and assess student progress, providing feedback to learners and guardians as needed Prepare students for internal assessments and competitive swimming meets Promote discipline, water safety and enjoyment of aquatic activities Discuss disciplinary and student performance issues with the Academic Quality Controller (AQC) and Head of Department (HOD) as needed Proctor exams as needed while ensuring an adequate and properly managed test environment Provide support for the low-performing students through guidance and motivation to help them improve and reach their full potential Develop and/or follow up on external exams preparation by going through previous exams as planned in the structured revision schedule (when applicable to specific grade levels) Aid in duties that may include testing students, substituting for absent teachers, organizing students for lunches and buses, controlling traffic (vehicles and people), and other administrative duties as assigned by the school management Prepare and participate in activity plans related to student life events such as but not limited to art, open houses, and physical education, in coordination with the Student Life Coordinator (SLC) Attend training sessions when needed and as requested by the school management in order to enhance the understanding of the SABIS® system and improve the overall performance of students Perform other related tasks or projects as they arise and as delegated by the school management Ideal Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related subject matter and/or equivalent English Proficient A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching swimming Proven swimming proficiency in all four strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly) Swimming Certification from a recognized body Registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Valid First Aid and CPR certification (lifeguard certification is an added advantage) Excellent communication skills Training in safeguarding and child protection Flexible, energetic, and a team player with a passion for education and wellness
