Background Information The National Council for Childrens Services is a State Corporation established under section 41 of the Children Act, 2022. The Council draws its mandate from Section 42 of the Children Act 2022. The Council is mandate to regulate, coordinate, and oversight children services in Kenya and advise the government on all matters relating to children. The Council was first established under the now-repealed Children Act 2001 and aligned to the Mwongozo Guidelines of State Corporations through the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendment) Act No. 11 of 2017 Vision Statement Vision Statement A protected and empowered child Mission Statement Mission Statement To regulate, coordinate, and oversight children services in Kenya and advise the government on all matters relating to children Core Values Child First Professionalism Integrity Transparency Accountability Inclusiveness Partnership Duties and responsibilities Duties and responsibilities entail: Reviewing and updating the monitoring tools for children’s institutions; Coordinating all children welfare activities in the regions; Preparing and submitting inspection reports; Monitoring adherence to set standards by children’s institutions;  Participating in reviewing of children programmes and policies in order to address children emerging issues; Coordinating the dissemination of standards on the care of displaced or unaccompanied children to stakeholders for implementation; Networking and coordinating stakeholders’ technical working teams on the preparation of the country status reports on regional and international obligations; Monitoring implementation of international and regional obligations relating to rights and welfare of children; Job Specification     For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: - At least nine (9) years’ work experience three (3) of which must be at the grade of Senior Compliance Officer or in a comparable position; Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Social Sciences, Education; Sociology; Gender, Women and Development Studies; Gender and Development; Community Development; Counseling and Psychology; Sociology and Religious Studies; Sociology and Economics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;  Membership to a relevant professional body where applicable; Management course not lasting less than four (4) weeks; and Computer Proficiency.
