Finance & Operations Intern - Hotel & Airbnb Diani

Skippers

Finance and Sales full time Ukunda, Kwale, Kenya Posted 1 day ago

Are you a sharp, driven and organised verging on OCD and perhaps a little techie graduate ready for an internship that offers genuine responsibility rather than just shadowing and coffee runs?

Skippers is a boutique coliving and hospitality concept in Diani. We currently operate 7 rooms with an immediate roadmap to expand to 12. We also co-develop SaaS for our industry.

We are looking for a commercially-minded organised intern to join our lean team. This isn't a passive, "sit back and observe" internship. It is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity where you will bridge the gap between high-level strategy and daily operational excellence.

We are a matrix organisation and so you will be working across multiple teams.

Our Culture Our working style is distinct: we value directness, structure, and radical transparency. We move faster than traditional hospitality environments.

We have minimal hierarchy, meaning you will have a real voice in the room, but you will also be expected to roll up your sleeves when a guest needs assistance or a room needs a final quality check.

Your Responsibilities Guest Excellence: Support the end-to-end guest journey, from seamless check-ins to helping resolve complex issues with poise;

Commercial Growth: Actively monitor occupancy trends, assist in driving guest reviews, and help identify revenue-generating opportunities;

Operational Rigour: Help maintain our exacting standards for property maintenance and housekeeping; you will act as a critical line of defense for quality control;

Finance & Analytics: Assist with bookkeeping, ensure booking accuracy, and help maintain streamlined financial reporting;

Strategic Communication: Provide concise, data-driven updates to the team and learn to escalate potential bottlenecks before they become problems.

Your Profile We are looking for a "high-floor, high-ceiling" candidate who pairs academic drive with a proactive work ethic.

Academic Path: Completed a Bachelors or higher degree in Finance, Hospitality Management,, Business Operations, or a related field 1st class honours or upper second;

Professional Foundation: A minimum of 12 months of professional experience (including previous internships, placements) in hospitality, operations, or finance.

Accounting: Your are on the path to or want to become a certified CPA(K)/

Skill Set: You are tech-savvy, highly comfortable with numbers/Excel, and possess a structured approach to problem-solving.

Mindset: You take pride in ownership. You notice the "small things" that others miss and act on them immediately.

Why You Might Not Be a Fit You are looking for a traditional, "hands-off" or strictly observational internship; You prefer a slow-paced, corporate hierarchy over a fast-moving, direct environment; You find administrative tasks, guest interactions, or financial tracking tedious;

Duration: 3-6 months To apply, please share your CV here on LinkedIn. This is a paid role with accommodation and travel costs to Diani provided.
