System Administrator – Job Description
Job Purpose
· Responsible for provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of systems hardware, operating environments, and applications.
· Ensures system reliability, performance, scalability, and organizational security.
· Manages user identities and access through Active Directory and Network Access Control.
· Supports a secure and productive IT environment through strong operational and security practices.
Key Responsibilities - System Administration, Operations and Maintenance
· Deploy and maintain IT infrastructure including AD, NAC, and End User Protection.
· Ensure compliance with ISO 27000, PCI DSS, and GDPR.
· Collaborate with NOC to integrate services with monitoring systems.
· Optimize system performance (CPU, memory, disk, network).
· Implement high availability and load balancing solutions.
· Maintain audiovisual equipment for collaboration.
Troubleshooting and Support
· Proactively resolve system issues to minimize downtime.
· Provide Level 2 support for access-related issues.
· Maintain incident response and resolution procedures.
· Escalate issues per SLA and escalation matrix.
· Train ICT Support Analysts on domain administration and endpoint protection.
· Maintain domain-related SLAs and collaborate across IT teams.
Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery
· Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
· Execute disaster recovery plans for domain and NAC systems.
· Conduct failover tests and drills.
Security Operations
· Maintain EDR and antivirus/antimalware systems.
· Manage PKI and secure data in motion.
· Ensure systems integrate with SOC for monitoring.
· Perform system hardening and log reviews.
· Handle incident triage and maintain response plans.
· Review access logs and deactivate expired accounts.
· Monitor security intelligence feeds.
Project Support and Technical Input
· Translate business needs into technical specifications.
· Support project planning, implementation, and testing.
· Ensure successful integration of system components.
Documentation & Reporting
· Maintain system documentation and SOPs.
· Record security risks in the risk register.
· Participate in ICT steering committee meetings.
· Provide security status reports.
· Track and document support incidents.
· Develop knowledge base articles.
Vendor Management
· Manage vendor contracts and SLAs.
· Supervise contractors for installations and maintenance.
· Ensure adherence to technical scope.
· Escalate vendor issues where necessary.
Continuous Learning and Development
· Stay updated on IT trends and technologies.
· Pursue training and certifications.
· Research and evaluate new technologies.
Job Specifications - Academic Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
Professional Qualifications
· ITIL
· Microsoft Certifications (Azure Administrator Associate)
· Linux System Administration
· CEH, CompTIA Security+
Work Experience
· Minimum 4-5 years’ experience as a Systems Administrator.
· Experience in Active Directory design and deployment.
