Business Development Executive (Cosmetics) - Nairobi & Eldoret

Key Responsibilities

  1. Market scoping and growth planning

• Research, map, and prioritize target areas and customer segments within your region (Nairobi or Eldoret and surrounding markets).

• Identify growth opportunities, competitor activity, pricing trends, and customer needs.

• Build and maintain a territory plan and pipeline to meet monthly targets.

  1. Customer acquisition (wholesale and retail)

• Identify, approach, and onboard new customers including wholesalers, distributors, retailers, salons, pharmacies, cosmetic shops, supermarkets, and kiosks where relevant.

• Schedule and lead customer meetings, product presentations, and negotiations.

• Convert leads into active accounts and maintain strong relationships to drive repeat orders.

  1. End-to-end sales cycle management

• Manage the full sales cycle: lead generation, qualification, pitching, sampling, follow-ups, closing, and account management.

• Collect customer orders accurately and submit them on time for fulfillment.

• Maintain accurate records of leads, visits, orders, and sales performance.

  1. Product testing, feedback, and reporting

• Coordinate product sampling and testing with selected customers and consumers.

• Collect structured feedback, document findings, and share insights with management/production to support product improvement.

• Submit regular field reports on customer feedback, objections, product performance, and market insights.

  1. Promotions and consumer education

• Plan and execute promotional activities such as activations, demos, trainings, and consumer education events.

• Drive product awareness and adoption by explaining product benefits and usage.

• Track and report promo outcomes (reach, trials, conversions, and sales impact).

  1. Fulfillment coordination (warehousing and distribution)

• Work closely with warehousing and distribution teams to confirm stock availability and delivery schedules.

• Coordinate deliveries and follow up to ensure orders are delivered accurately and on time.

• Resolve delivery issues quickly and professionally to protect customer experience.

  1. Payments and collections

• Ensure goods are fully paid for before delivery (unless otherwise approved by management).

• Follow up on invoices and payments and maintain accurate customer payment records.

• Support documentation for orders, deliveries, and payments.

  1. Targets and performance management

• Meet or exceed sales and profit targets for your territory.

• Provide weekly updates and monthly performance reports (pipeline, conversions, sales, collections, and key challenges).

Qualifications and Experience• Diploma or degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or a related field (preferred).• 2+ years experience in sales/business development (FMCG, beauty/cosmetics, personal care, retail distribution, or pharma retail is an advantage).• Education background from a Beauty School is an added advantage.• Proven ability to prospect, negotiate, and close deals.• Experience handling retail/wholesale accounts and working with distributors is an added advantage.
