FIELDS: KISWAHILI LANGUAGE (1),BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION (1), TOURISM MANAGEMENT (1)

i) Teach in a specialized and establishedprogramme of study to impart knowledge and skills to students by employing arange of delivery techniques to inspire and engage students for effectivelearning.

ii) Develop and review curriculum in line withthe current market trends to guide teaching and learning.

iii) Interpret the curriculum in a bid tosynthesize the content and disseminate the same to the learners.

iv) Prepare a course outline to guide theeffective delivery and coverage of the syllabus.

v) Develop learning content to ensure adequatecoverage of the course outline.

vi) Set, moderate, invigilate, and administerexaminations to test the understanding of course content and give a progressivereport to the Department.

vii) Supervise undergraduate projects,dissertations/theses at the graduate level and other experiential learningprogrammes.

viii) Attend defense meetings for undergraduateand postgraduate students.

ix) Participate in conferences, professionalbodies' events and prepare publications to disseminate knowledge generatedthrough research.

x) Initiate, promote and participate in researchto generate new knowledge.

xi) Establish linkages and networks throughcollaboration with University and industry stakeholders at local andinternational levels to enhance exchange of ideas and expertise.

xii) Facilitate field studies for the students toenable them to acquire hands-on experience.

xiii) Invigilate and assess students duringattachments/trips/internships to equip them with the technical know-how forfuture careers.

xiv) Monitor class attendance sheets to ensurethat students are sitting for the examinations meet the required lectureattendance of more than four-fifths of all lectures before they can sit fortheir examinations.

xv) Prepare a list of items required to beprocured with their specification for use

during teaching, practicals and research.

xvi) Present examination results to theDepartmental board of examiners.

xvii)Be an academic adviser and mentor tostudents and staff.

xviii) Develop fundable research proposals toattract funding, solve societal problems and expand knowledge through academicpublications in internationally recognised journals. 

xix) Carry out administrative and other dutiesand responsibilities as may be assigned by a senior officer

Duties and Responsibilities:

i) Teach and assess courses in one’s discipline at both undergraduate and

postgraduate levels;

ii) Supervise undergraduate projects and other experiential learning programs.;

iii) Supervise dissertations/theses at the graduate level for those with a PhD;

iv) Participate in the development of undergraduate and postgraduate courses;

v) Initiate, promote, and participate in research projects;

vi) Provide professional and community services and initiate linkages and fundraising;

vii) Carry out administrative and other duties & responsibilities as may be assigned
