Description:

A reputable and milk processing and distribution Company is seeking to recruit a highly competent, proactive and results-driven Legal & Administration Manager to strengthen its Human Resources, Legal and Administrative functions.

The role is responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring regulatory compliance, enhancing operational efficiency and supporting the execution of business objectives through effective people, legal and administrative frameworks.

The position also serves as the Principal Assistant to the General Manager Human Resources & Administration (GMHR&A), including deputizing responsibilities and supporting departmental strategy execution.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of legal expertise, HR leadership and administrative oversight with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels within a dynamic business environment.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Management

  • Lead the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies and procedures aligned to organizational goals.
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, onboarding and retention initiatives to attract and retain top talent
  • Manage performance management systems, employee development and learning programs
  • Develop and implement the Company’s Learning and Development (L&D) strategy aligned to business goals and workforce planning.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, HR policies and best practices.
  • Handle employee relations, disciplinary processes and conflict resolution effectively.
  • Oversee payroll, benefits administration and employee welfare programs.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and HR information systems.

Administration

  • Oversee office administration and facilities management
  • Ensure efficient utilization, control and accountability of Company’s assets and resources
  • Manage procurement processes and vendor relationships to ensure value and efficiency.
  • Supervise administrative staff and support services.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety and security standards.

Legal & Compliance

  • Provide legal advisory services to Management on corporate and employment matters.
  • Draft, review and manage contracts, agreements and legal documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage disputes, litigation and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and implement compliance frameworks and policies.

Strategic & Leadership Support

  • Provide advisory support on HR, legal and administrative risks and opportunities and support Company decision-making.
  • Lead departmental budgeting, resource planning, and KPI development and monitoring.
  • Support execution of departmental strategies and action plans aligned to Company goals.
  • Prepare management reports, board papers, and presentations, and track implementation of Board and Management resolutions.
  • Deputize the GMHR&A in internal and external engagements as required, ensuring continuity of leadership.
  • Provide ongoing advisory support on HR, legal, and administrative matters.

Qualifications, Experience & Core Competencies

a) Education:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Human Resource Management (CHRP).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Law is an added advantage.
  • Membership to relevant professional bodies (IHRM and LSK).

b) Experience:

  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ relevant experience in HR and/or legal practice and/or Administration.
  • At least 3 years in a managerial role, preferably within an FMCG environment.

c) Core Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of labour laws, corporate governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven leadership and people management capability.
  • Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
