The company opened its first manufacturing facility in Mombasa, Kenya, in 1962, rapidly widening its reach to include further countries in East Africa, and then Southern Africa. In 2003, all operating companies were reversed into the current holding company called Safal Investments Mauritius Limited and conduct its business across Africa as the Safal Group.Today, the Safal Group manufactures in 10 African countries and sells and markets its building solutions across the continent.   Key responsibilities: Design & Drafting: Develop detailed floor plans, elevations, and 3D models using ArchiCAD and AutoCAD, specifically optimized for steel-frame residential structures. Customer Requirement Analysis: Lead technical discussions with customers to interpret their residential needs and translate them into viable prefabricated design solutions. Bill of Quantities (BOQ): Generate comprehensive BOQs for project proposals, ensuring all architectural elements are accounted for to support accurate cost estimation. Procurement Support (Material Lists): Generate precise Material Take-offs (MTOs) and Material Lists from finalized drawings to facilitate the timely procurement of steel members, cladding, and finishing materials. Prefabrication Integration: Modify and refine architectural layouts to align with factory fabrication capabilities and "Smooth Flow" site assembly logic. Proposal Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team to provide technical sketches and volume data for high-stakes residential bids. Requirements Qualifications required: Minimum academic qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology Qualifications as an added advantage: Certification in project management Professional registration:  Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors or the Architectural Association of Kenya Experience required: General work experience (years):  1–3 years of experience in an architectural or technical office environment, with a strong focus on interpreting client briefs for residential projects. Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of residential building codes and the technical nuances of prefabricated/modular steel construction Industry: Manufacturing Key competencies and skills: Quantitative Accuracy: A high degree of precision in calculating material volumes to minimize waste and ensure procurement accuracy. Technical Interpretation: The ability to visualize 3D steel structures from 2D concepts and explain technical constraints to non-technical customers. Time Management: Capable of handling multiple proposal requests and drawing revisions simultaneously to meet tight project deadlines. Knowledge of Kenyan building codes and approvals processes Computer literacy: Expertise in ArchiCAD and AutoCAD. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for BOQ generation and data management.
