NARUWASCO was incorporated under Companies Act, Cap 486 of the Laws of Kenya (Certificate of Incorporation Number C.128339 dated 14th September 2006). The company was primarily established to provide clean water and sanitation services within its area of jurisdiction. The Memorandum and Articles of Association of the company has been aligned to the Constitution 2010, which provides that water Services is a devolved function. Accordingly, the company is now fully owned by the County Government of Nakuru. The company has 7 Board of Directors (5t competitively recruited to represent stakeholders, and 2 representing the county government of Nakuru). The service area of the company is the whole of Nakuru County except Nakuru and Naivasha Urban Centers. The day to day management of the activities of the company is in the hands of the staff headed by the Managing Director through an elaborate structure that enables each staff member to be responsibly accountable to an area of jurisdiction. Our area of jurisdiction with a population of 1.1million (2009 Census) has been divided into five distinct administrative regions/areas headed by Area Managers, namely: Eastern, Northern, Central, Western and Southern. We currently serve a population of 350,000 with water.About the company: NARUWASCO is a wholly owned water service provider (WSP) company of the County Government of Nakuru responsible for the provision of water and sanitation services in Seven (7) sub-counties of Nakuru County with a population of 1.1 million (census 2019). Our corporate vision is Potable Water and Dignified Sanitation in Every Household. To achieve our vision, the Board of Directors of the Company wishes to fill the position of the Managing Director with customer service oriented, qualified, and experienced individual who seek to be part of a results-oriented team. The position requires a result oriented and self-driven professional, who will provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure the company delivers on its mandate to the satisfaction of all the stakeholders. Job Profile: Provide overall leadership and administration of operations of the company under the guidance of the Board. Developing short/long term corporate strategies for Board approval and implementation as stipulated in the company’s strategic plan. Managing internal multi-disciplinary teams and external parties to ensure agreed corporate objectives are achieved. Ensuring compliance with applicable statutory, legal and regulatory requirements and establishing mitigation measures against emerging business risks. Promoting the company’s image and developing good working relationships with all stakeholders and other partners while promoting the principles of good governance in the company. Advising the Board of Directors on operations, investment planning and sustainable development of company interests. Terms of employment: Five-year contract renewable once based on performance Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for appointment to the position, the person shall meet the following requirements: Be a Kenyan citizen Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Water/Wastewater Engineering, Environmental Science, Business or any other relevant field from a recognized institution; Leadership/senior management course of at least 4 weeks from a recognized institution. Professional qualification and membership to a relevant professional body and in good standing; Have a minimum of twelve (12) years’ working experience, seven (7) of which must be in senior management position in the Kenyan water sector, Have excellent communication, presentation skills, strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and team leadership capabilities with high professional ethical standards, Should be a person of high integrity and should meet the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010. The Candidate should provide the following documents: Clearance Certificates from KRA, CRB, HELB, EACC and Certificate of Good Conduct. Demonstrated change leadership with transformative capability. Should have the capacity to mobilize financial resources for project implementation. Familiar with Water Sector Management of donor funded projects and demonstrated good financial management skills.
