The Busara Center for Behavioral Economics is an advisory and research organization focused on evaluation and implementation of behavioral interventions in understudied countries and populations. Busara's mission is to work with researchers and organizations to advance and apply behavioral science in pursuit of poverty alleviation. This involves the application of research and rigorous methods to enable partners to improve program design, evaluate existing programs, and optimize internal processes. To this end, Busara has worked with a variety of organizations in an advisory capacity to apply behavioral insights, build analytical models, and develop new products. In addition, in its research center capacity, Busara operates a Nairobi-based lab capable of implementing advanced experiments in psychology, behavioral economics and other academic disciplines.Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities Field Officers will work closely with the Project Lead and project team to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to: Administer surveys and conduct quantitative interviews in accordance with project protocols and ethical standards. Collect accurate and high-quality data using approved research tools and procedures. Develop a clear understanding of the research instrument and study objectives to effectively collect relevant data. Ensure adherence to data collection protocols and maintain data integrity at all times. Provide daily reports and updates to the Project Lead on field activities and progress. Coordinate with team members to support smooth implementation of field activities. Maintain detailed notes on data collection activities and promptly raise any issues affecting data quality. Maintain the confidentiality, dignity, and rights of all research participants and escalate any ethical concerns. Support translations and back-translations of research instruments where required. Perform any other duties as assigned by the project supervisor. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Minimum Requirement Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Swahili (mandatory). Basic computer literacy. Experience conducting quantitative interviews or administering surveys. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality data collection. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, Business Administration, or a related field. Previous experience in field data collection. Experience interviewing men/women or gender-focused populations is an advantage. Familiarity with Android tablets or digital devices for data collection.
