Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for an Operations Manager at Kenlife Resorts, located in Kilifi. The Operations Manager will oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency and excellent service standards across all departments. Responsibilities include managing and training staff, coordinating seamless guest experiences, developing operational strategies, maintaining quality control, and ensuring compliance with all policies and regulations. Additionally, the Operations Manager will manage budgets, monitor operational costs, and implement improvements to enhance guest satisfaction.
Qualifications Proven experience in team management, training, and staff development. Operational expertise in hospitality or resort management, including experience with budgeting, cost management, and compliance. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with customer service best practices and initiatives to enhance guest satisfaction. Proficiency in scheduling software, inventory management tools, and operational systems. A degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and adapt to industry demands.

The role connects all departments and ensures that the resort maintains high standards of hospitality, service, and guest experience. - General Resort Operations Oversee the daily operations of the resort, including accommodation, restaurant, bar, events, housekeeping, landscaping, maintenance, security, and guest services. Ensure all departments are properly coordinated and operating efficiently. Monitor daily activities to ensure guests receive professional, timely, and courteous service. Ensure the resort environment reflects Kenlife’s standards of cleanliness, organic living, authentic hospitality, and quality service. Act as the main link between management, staff, guests, suppliers, and service providers.
- Guest Experience and Customer Service Ensure all guests are welcomed, served, and assisted professionally. Handle guest complaints, feedback, and special requests promptly and respectfully. Monitor guest satisfaction and recommend improvements where necessary. Ensure staff maintain a friendly, disciplined, and service-oriented attitude. Promote repeat visits by ensuring guests enjoy a memorable experience at Kenlife Resort Mavueni.
- Staff Supervision and Coordination Supervise departmental heads and operational staff. Allocate duties, monitor performance, and ensure accountability across all departments. Prepare staff duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing during normal operations, weekends, holidays, and events. Enforce discipline, punctuality, grooming standards, and professional conduct. Identify staff training needs and support continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Food and Beverage Operations Work closely with the Chef and Food & Beverage team to ensure quality food preparation, service, hygiene, and presentation. Monitor stock levels for food, drinks, cleaning supplies, and operational materials. Ensure the restaurant, bar, and kitchen operate efficiently and profitably. Confirm that menus, pricing, portions, and service standards are followed. Ensure compliance with hygiene, food safety, and health standards.
- Events and Banqueting Oversee planning and execution of meetings, retreats, parties, corporate events, weddings, group visits, and community gatherings. Coordinate with the Events Manager or relevant staff to ensure proper setup, décor, seating, catering, sound, and guest flow. Ensure event clients receive excellent service from inquiry to completion. Monitor event costs, staffing, timelines, and client satisfaction. Ensure the resort is well-prepared for high-traffic days and group bookings.
- Housekeeping, Cleanliness, and Ambience Ensure rooms, public areas, washrooms, restaurant spaces, outdoor areas, and event spaces are clean and well-maintained. Conduct regular inspections of guest areas and back-of-house areas. Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained before, during, and after guest stays. Monitor laundry, linen, cleaning supplies, and room readiness. Maintain the resort’s natural, peaceful, and welcoming ambience.
- Maintenance and Facility Management Ensure all resort facilities, equipment, furniture, plumbing, electrical systems, water systems, lighting, and outdoor structures are functional. Report and follow up on repair and maintenance issues. Coordinate preventive maintenance to avoid service interruptions. Ensure the swimming pool, gardens, walkways, parking areas, and recreational areas are safe and presentable. Work with maintenance staff or service providers to resolve faults quickly.
- Landscaping and Outdoor Environment Ensure the gardens, lawns, trees, riverfront areas, pathways, and outdoor spaces are neat and attractive. Supervise landscaping teams to maintain Kenlife’s organic and natural setting. Ensure outdoor spaces are prepared for guests, photography, events, and relaxation. Monitor waste management and environmental cleanliness. Promote sustainable and responsible use of the resort’s natural environment.
- Sales, Revenue, and Cost Control Support sales and marketing efforts by ensuring the resort delivers what is promised to clients. Monitor daily sales from accommodation, food, drinks, events, and other services. Ensure proper billing, receipting, cash handling, and reporting procedures are followed. Control wastage, pilferage, overstocking, and unnecessary expenditure. Recommend ways to increase revenue, improve occupancy, attract events, and reduce operational costs.
- Procurement and Stock Management Supervise procurement requests and ensure purchases are necessary, cost-effective, and properly approved. Monitor stock movement for food, beverages, toiletries, cleaning materials, fuel, maintenance items, and guest supplies. Ensure proper record keeping for goods received and issued. Prevent stock losses, misuse, and unauthorized consumption. Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality goods and services.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance Ensure the resort complies with health, safety, hygiene, fire, labour, and licensing requirements. Ensure staff observe safety procedures in the kitchen, bar, accommodation areas, pool area, and event spaces. Report accidents, incidents, damages, and security concerns immediately. Ensure guests and staff operate in a safe and secure environment. Maintain emergency readiness, including first aid, fire safety, evacuation procedures, and incident reporting.
- Security and Risk Management Coordinate with security personnel to safeguard guests, staff, property, vehicles, and resort assets. Monitor guest movements, access control, parking, and night operations. Ensure proper handling of lost and found items. Prevent theft, fraud, vandalism, and misuse of resort facilities. Escalate serious security matters to management promptly.
- Reporting and Administration Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports. Report sales, occupancy, stock issues, maintenance needs, guest feedback, staff matters, and incidents. Keep proper records of bookings, events, stock, expenses, repairs, and operational activities. Attend management meetings and provide updates on resort performance. Recommend operational improvements to enhance efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Leadership and Brand Representation Represent Kenlife Resort Mavueni professionally to guests, clients, suppliers, local communities, and partners. Ensure the resort’s values of cleanliness, quality service, authentic hospitality, and organic living are reflected in daily operations.
