Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.Key Responsibilities: Support the development and implementation of statistical and epidemiological analyses aligned to the project’s research questions. Contribute to the preparation of statistical analysis plans, including variable definition, model specification, and analytical approaches appropriate for mixed-methods research. Conduct data management, cleaning, and preparation, ensuring high standards of data quality, documentation, and reproducibility. Track, document, and resolve data management queries in collaboration with data management and field teams, ensuring timely clarification of data issues. Implement and support routine data quality checks, including consistency checks, validation routines, and flagging of anomalies across datasets. Work closely with the Qualitative Lead to support integration of quantitative and qualitative findings, including triangulation and interpretation. Develop and maintain reproducible analytical workflows (R/Stata/Python), including well-documented code, outputs, and version control practices. Contribute to the development of simple, user-friendly analytical tools or summaries (e.g., dashboards, scripts, visualisations) to support interpretation and dissemination of findings. Participate in internal and external collaborations with multidisciplinary teams, including epidemiologists, social scientists, and policy stakeholders. Support manuscript writing, report development, and preparation of policy-relevant outputs, including contributing to peer-reviewed publications. Contribute to capacity strengthening activities, including supporting junior researchers, students, or research assistants where appropriate. Ensure compliance with all relevant ethical, regulatory, and data governance requirements throughout the research process.
