Jhc Consulting

Consulting part time Nairobi, Nairobi County, Kenya Posted 1 day ago

This is a part-time contract role focused on the accuracy of internal advisory documents and governance reports. We are looking for someone currently based in Kenya to support our quality assurance workflow from within the country.

About JHC Consulting JHC Consulting is a private advisory practice that provides counsel to chief executives, chairs, and board committees on consequential decisions. The firm specializes in written analysis designed to remain on file and be referred to long after a meeting concludes. Rather than delivering polished presentations or facilitating consensus sessions, we produce memoranda that are authored, signed, and owned by a single individual. This approach rests on the belief that a well reasoned, seven page document is more valuable than a forty page slide deck. JHC Consulting works with clients handling complex governance transitions, strategic shifts, and structural reorganizations where the stakes are high. All engagements are grounded in analytical honesty and discretion. We favor evidence over assumption and meticulous detail over volume.

In this role As part of the internal report review cycle, you will act as a final checkpoint for high level advisory documents before they move into the final review stage. This is a structured engagement where you will work with drafts that have been partially prepared or summarized with technical assistance. Your day to day work involves the following: Reviewing internal advisory drafts, board pack summaries, and governance notes for factual consistency and logical flow. Checking specific claims in memoranda against source material such as interview notes, primary research data, and prior regulatory texts. Identifying and flagging statements in draft reports that are unsupported by the provided source documents or seem unclear. Verifying that names, dates, financial figures, and technical terms match the raw archival data exactly. Following a detailed review checklist within our shared document workspace to ensure no step in the quality control process is missed. Documenting recurring linguistic or factual issues to help our editorial lead refine the drafting instructions. Escalating ambiguous cases or conflicting data points to the documentation lead for further investigation. Maintaining high standards of consistency across repeated review cycles for different client accounts.

What we are looking for A university degree or equivalent professional experience in a field that requires rigorous analytical writing. Between 2 and 3 years of experience in proofreading, editorial quality assurance, business documentation, or research. Strong written English skills with a focus on professional vocabulary and grammatical precision. The ability to maintain focus while reading dense, complex corporate documents for extended periods. Experience identifying subtle contradictions or missing evidence in written arguments. Familiarity with corporate governance terminology or general management consulting structures. The ability to follow multi-step technical instructions without deviation. A current resident of Kenya who is able to work remotely and independently.

Helpful background Academic studies in Law, History, or Philosophy, which often provide the necessary training for evidence-based review. Previous experience working with consulting reports, legal briefs, or compliance documentation. Familiarity with professional style guides used in advisory or legal environments.

Working at JHC Consulting This is a fully remote, part-time contract engagement. We emphasize deep work and long periods of quiet concentration over frequent meetings. You will receive direct mentorship and coordination from our senior documentation lead. Our workflow is managed through a project tracker and an internal knowledge base to keep assignments clear. The role provides exposure to the precise drafting standards of a private advisory practice.

JHC Consulting remains committed to the written record as the primary tool for executive decision making. We believe that clarity of writing reflects clarity of thought. Our goal is to provide our clients with a stable and honest foundation for the future of their organizations. By focusing on the written record, we ensure that our counsel is both intellectually honest and useful for years to come.
