The Finance and Grants Manager will assist the Project Manager in establishing and maintaining the accounting framework, internal controls and reporting systems for project funds. The role leads the sub-grant/partner finance function, including partner due diligence support, sub-grant budget review, disbursement processing and monitoring, partner financial reporting review, and follow-up on liquidation and corrective actions. With strong experience in leadership, financial management and audit, the Finance and Grants Manager will assess and strengthen partner compliance, budgeting, procurement controls, documentation, and audit readiness in line with MEDA policies and donor requirements. Occasional international travel. Job Status: Full-Time Expected Start Date: To be confirmed, contingent upon confirmation of funding Location(s): On site MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Financial Management & Payroll Lead the payroll management process, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with Kenyan labor laws and tax regulations. Oversee preparation of draft organizational and project budgets in collaboration with project managers and senior leadership. Conduct regular budget variance analysis, highlighting financial risks and advising program teams. Ensure all payroll, budget, and expenditure records are integrated into MEDA’s ERP and reporting systems. Grants & Compliance Maintain oversight of all donor grant requirements and sub-grant agreements, ensuring compliance with contribution agreements, MEDA policies, and applicable statutory requirements. Lead sub-grant and partner fund-flow processes, including review of partner budgets and cash forecasts, verification of supporting documentation, processing of disbursement requests, and tracking of liquidations and outstanding advances. Leadership & Staff Management Supervise and mentor Admin Staff, fostering professional growth, accountability, and high performance. Provide capacity building to staff and partners on donor compliance, reporting standards, and financial systems. Represent the finance function in cross-departmental meetings and strategic planning sessions. Systems & Reporting Ensure timely preparation of accurate project financial statements, donor financial reports, and management dashboards (including sub-grant burn rates, outstanding advances, and partner reporting status). Coordinate complete sub-grant financial tracking system and standardized partner financial reporting pack in line with MEDA guidelines including (templates, guidance, schedules, and checklists) to support quality and consistency. Oversee integration of payroll, partner disbursements, and budget processes into ERP and other financial management systems, ensuring accurate coding and document retention. Lead continuous improvement initiatives for finance and compliance systems, including month-end routines and readiness for internal/external audits. Any other duties and/or requirements as assigned REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting or Finance or its equivalent Certified Public Accountant with valid membership Experience: 6 years’ experience in Finance field At least 3 years in Grants management Proven track record in evaluating and funding projects and good understanding of the donor/grants compliance. Strong experience with international audit requirements Working knowledge of major donor funded operations, finance services and practices Excellent computer skills in Excel & ACCPAC software or other accounting software. Excellent oral and written communication in English and Swahili ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: Ability and willingness for frequent travel in the region Excellent communication and interpersonal skills APPLICATION DEADLINE: June 02, 2026 @ 8:00 PM ET.
