  • Real estate & IndustriesJob Responsibilities Strategic Leadership — Formulate and ensure implementation of leading-practice nursing service strategies, including patient management systems, while developing effective mechanisms for reviewing and monitoring policies, standards, and procedures across the Nursing Services division. Patient Safety & Quality Assurance — Monitor the quality and appropriateness of nursing services in line with global best practices, investigate and document quality assurance incidents involving staff, patients, and visitors promptly and thoroughly, and track performance against established indicators. Patient Experience — Lead the hospital-wide strategy for patient engagement and experience, including pathway development, leveraging feedback from satisfaction surveys and other feedback channels to drive continuous, transparent improvements across all services. People Management — Plan, organize, and direct all staffing activities including hiring, onboarding, performance evaluation, and continuing education of nursing staff, while providing mentorship and guidance to ensure patients are treated with dignity, privacy, and respect. Budget & Financial Management — Take full ownership of the preparation and monitoring of the annual divisional budget, take corrective action in case of any variation, and support unit managers in effective financial management to ensure quality of care is not compromised by cost reduction plans. Policy & Procedure Development — Champion the definition of the division's processes, policies, and procedures, developing departmental goals and objectives consistent with relevant standards and regulations, and ensuring all activities are aligned with both local and international healthcare requirements. Cross-functional Collaboration — Work closely with the Head of Human Resources, Head of Clinical and Medical Services, and other professionals to develop protocols for quality patient care, maintain positive relationships with physicians and colleagues, and ensure interfaces between Nursing Services and other departments are managed optimally. Operational Efficiency — Monitor daily productivity of nursing staff and adjust utilization to meet workflow changes, coordinate execution of work schedules and plans, and develop and implement plans for determining the types and numbers of nursing personnel necessary to provide adequate patient cover, including locum engagement and disengagement. Learning & Professional Development — Oversee the orientation, training, and development of staff in accordance with the hospital's policies, maintain nursing education credit hours in line with the Nursing Council of Kenya, and ensure continuous professional development is conducted regularly with identification of all hospital learning needs and gaps. Compliance & Governance — Ensure all care and services provided are consistent with and in compliance with statutory regulations, requirements, and standards, coordinate internal and externally driven audits of the division's operations, and participate in Board of Management and Medical Advisory Committee meetings. Other Requirements Education — A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing and Midwifery. Management/ Administration training is a bonus. Management Training — Additional training in management or administration is highly desirable, equipping the candidate with the tools to effectively lead a large and complex nursing division within a busy hospital environment. Nursing Experience — A minimum of ten (10) years of nursing experience in a leading regional or international healthcare facility, demonstrating a deep and broad understanding of clinical operations, patient care delivery, and healthcare systems. Supervisory Experience — A minimum of five (5) years in a nursing supervisory or leadership role within a similar facility, with a proven track record of managing teams, driving performance, and delivering quality patient outcomes. Licensure — Valid registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya and a current practicing license, ensuring full compliance with all local regulatory and professional standards governing nursing practice. Nursing Administration & Policy — Demonstrated experience in nursing administration and policy making, including the ability to develop, implement, and monitor divisional policies, procedures, and standards in line with both local and international best practices. International Standards — Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with international nursing standards, with the ability to benchmark the hospital's nursing services against global best practices and make informed recommendations to senior leadership. Leadership & People Management — Strong ability to lead, inspire, and manage large, diverse nursing teams, entrenching the right attitude, discipline, and organizational culture while fostering a patient-focused, team-oriented environment across all departments. Financial Acumen — Strong business orientation with demonstrated ability to manage divisional budgets, monitor expenditure, support unit managers in financial accountability, and ensure that cost management decisions do not compromise the quality of patient care. Communication & Stakeholder Management — Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders, including the CEO, Board of Management, Medical Advisory Committee, physicians, and nursing teams, while maintaining positive and collaborative working relationships across the organization.
