Data Quality Analyst Assistant

Jhc Consulting

Consulting full time Nairobi, Nairobi County, Kenya Posted 3 days ago

JHC Consulting is a small advisory firm that provides independent counsel to chief executives and board committees. We operate on the principle that the discipline of writing is necessary for clear thinking. We do not produce presentations or typical consulting slide decks. Instead, we draft signed memoranda that offer a thorough reading of internal corporate strategy. Currently, our primary partner is expanding its regional presence in Kenya. We are providing the governance and strategic oversight necessary for this expansion, which requires an entry level Data Quality Analyst Assistant to ensure the integrity of the information that informs our advice.

Employment setup JHC Consulting is the legal employer for this position. This is a fully remote role open to candidates who have the legal right to work in their current country of residence. The engagement is permanent and requires a full-time workload. While the firm is based in the United States, this specific role requires a minimum of five hours of overlap with East Africa Time (EAT) to coordinate with active projects in Kenya. Compensation is paid through a standard monthly payroll cycle and offers attractive pay. All required software and security tools are provided by the firm. There are no fees to apply, no requirement to purchase equipment, and no duties involving the processing or transferring of funds.

The role The core task of a Data Quality Analyst Assistant is to verify the accuracy and consistency of numbers, dates, and claims within the datasets we use to draft our memoranda. You will be responsible for scrub-checking internal spreadsheets against original source documents to identify discrepancies. This is not a passive entry role: it requires a high degree of skepticism and the ability to find missing details in complex documents. A typical week involves checking audit trails, confirming the validity of regional financial reports, and ensuring that any data point cited by a principal is backed by a verified record. You will also maintain our internal records in tools such as Microsoft Excel and Notion, ensuring that our archive of evidence is organized and current. All work is subject to a quality assurance rubric and must meet our standards for confidentiality and data protection under GDPR or relevant local policies.

What you bring We are looking for someone with a high level of attention to detail and a natural interest in the clarity of information. You should have a basic understanding of spreadsheet software, including the ability to use filters, basic formulas, and data validation tools. Formal experience in consulting is not required, but you should be comfortable reading through long reports and picking out specific details. We value a background in accounting, finance, or social sciences where the handling of evidence is a core requirement. You should be able to write clearly in plain English, as our firm treats every internal message with the same care as our client work. A bachelor degree is not a hard requirement, though we often find that students or recent graduates in analytical fields are well suited for this work. Most importantly, you need to be eager to learn the JHC method of rigorous source verification.

How we work At JHC Consulting, the document is the final product. We follow a single author model where the individual who conducts the analysis is responsible for the writing. As an assistant, your role is to provide the factual foundation that allows our principals to sign their names to their work with confidence. We do not have long daily meetings or unnecessary ceremonies. We work in a focused manner and expect every team member to manage their time effectively without constant supervision. Our communication is almost entirely written, which helps us maintain a clear record of our assumptions and findings. We value people who can work independently and who take individual accountability for the accuracy of their assigned tasks.

Working at JHC Consulting Our firm is small by design to ensure that every mandate receives individual attention. Working here means sticking to a standard of quiet professionalism and intellectual honesty. Because we are fully remote, we rely on clear documentation and reliable delivery rather than office presence. This position offers the opportunity to observe how top level corporate strategy is formed and to develop a disciplined approach to data management. We offer a stable work environment where the focus remains on the quality of the written word. We do not use the typical jargon of the consulting industry. We speak and write in plain, direct language because that is the only way to provide useful counsel to our clients. The work of JHC Consulting is a matter of record. Every memorandum we produce is archived and can be scrutinized for years to come. This standard of work requires every member of the team to treat data quality as a serious responsibility. We value the courage to point out when a number does not add up or when a source is unreliable. If you appreciate the logic of a well researched argument and the rigor of verifiable facts, this role provides a solid introduction to the world of advisory practice.
