Required Skills/Characteristics

Degree or Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Applied Sciences, Education Science, or a related field.

A minimum of 3 years of active experience working as a laboratory technician, preferably in an educational or research institution.

Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle overlapping requests from different science disciplines.

Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with teaching staff and students.

Experiment Preparation & Support: Prepare, set up, and dismantle apparatus, chemical solutions, and biological materials required for daily practical lessons and examinations across all three sciences.

Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations.

Inventory & Stock Management: Monitor, order, and maintain stock levels of chemicals, reagents, live specimens, and physics equipment. Conduct annual audits of laboratory assets.

Equipment Maintenance: Clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment. Arrange for specialist repairs when necessary.

Waste Management: Ensure safe and legal disposal of chemical and biological hazardous waste.

Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with science teachers to try new experiments, provide technical advice, and occasionally assist students during practical sessions.

Guide students on proper laboratory conduct and safety practices when required.
