Role Description This is a full-time, on-site IP/Core Network Engineer role based in Nairobi County, Kenya. The IP/Core Network Engineer will design, implement, and optimize IP and core network infrastructure to support satellite and terrestrial services across multiple countries. Responsibilities include configuring and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, and core network elements; monitoring network performance; and ensuring high availability, security, and scalability. The role involves diagnosing and resolving complex network incidents, performing root-cause analysis, and coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and partners to implement improvements. The engineer will support capacity planning, documentation, change management, and adherence to industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Strong skills in Network Engineering and Core Network operations, including hands-on experience with carrier-grade IP networks. Proficiency in Network Design and Network Architecture, with the ability to plan and implement scalable, resilient multi-site networks. Advanced Troubleshooting skills for complex IP/core network issues, including performance, routing, and interoperability problems. Experience with routing and switching technologies and protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, QoS, VPNs). Familiarity with service provider or telecom environments, ideally involving satellite and terrestrial backhaul networks. Knowledge of network security principles and technologies (e.g., firewalls, ACLs, IPS/IDS, segmentation). Competence with network monitoring and management tools, and experience working within ITIL or similar operational frameworks. Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
