Job Title: Quality Control In-Charge Department/Division: Quality Control Reports To: Plant Manager Supervises: Quality Inspectors
Job summary: The Quality In-Charge will oversee the entire quality assurance and control framework at Sandstorm Industries Limited Production Department. They will ensure raw materials and finished cement bags strictly meet required industrial standards for tensile strength, burst resistance, and durability.
2. Roles and Responsibilities: Monitor product standards compliance and implement quality-control programs as per set standards and customers' requirements. Create, document, and maintain technical specifications of raw materials, semi products, and finished goods, as well as conduct and document trails of new raw materials and approve results. Accountable / responsible for inspection and approval of raw materials, semi products and finish products inspections and release, reporting to (Plant Manager) of all quality performance, quality control objectives achievement, quality index, and non-conformities and corrective actions. Collaborate with procurement department and suppliers to address quality issues in raw materials and ensure continuous improvement in material quality. Respond to and rectify customer complaints and frequent production non-conformities (NCS) using statistical methods of root causes analysis and set up controls and limitations accordingly to avoid recurrence. Monitor and evaluate overall quality performance as well as quality team performance, determine training needs and requirements. Responsible for product compliance with statutory and regulatory bodies. Responsible for quality control initiatives and process improvements using "Quality Metrics". Collaborate with maintenance department to calibrate tools and instruments to ensure accuracy in quality assessments. Responsible for implementation of EHS standard of "Management and Storage of Chemicals", starting from safe storage according to compatibility charts and standards, identification and identity cards in stores based on SDS, labelling of containers according to GHS system, work instructions of handling and usage, PPE, chemical spills response, and disposal according to SDS and local regulations. Monitoring of Hygiene activities including cleaning activities and periodic pest control, if applicable, in frequently / monthly basis.

Qualifications and Competence Required: Minimum Requirements: A diploma in Quality Assurance, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred O Training in Quality Management or certifications like Six Sigma Professional Experience 5 to 8+ years of hands-on quality assurance/control experience, with at least 3 years in a PP woven sack, extrusion, or flexible plastics manufacturing environment. Regulatory and Compliance knowledge: Familiarity with Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) certification processes and specifications for synthetic packaging and particularly cement bags. Understanding of National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) regulations regarding plastic waste, recycling and factory emissions.
