Background The Eastern and Southern Africa Trade and Development Bank (TDB) Group has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Accelerating Sustainable and Clean Energy Access Transformation (ASCENT) and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.

Objectives of the Assignment TDB requires the consulting services of a Senior Investment Officer to support the Project and Infrastructure Finance (PIF) team. As a member of the PIF team, the senior investment officer will be involved in origination and execution of transactions until financial close is achieved.

Scope of Work The consultant will lead the end-to-end execution of investment transactions under the ASCENT REAF project, including business development, deal origination, due diligence, financial structuring, credit approval, negotiation, legal documentation, financial close, and disbursement. The role will focus on building a strong pipeline of bankable projects while ensuring effective risk management and successful transaction execution. Duration and Location of the Assignment The assignment will be for a period of thirty (30) calendar months . The consultant shall work for an initial twenty-four (24) calendar months from contract commencement date. This period is subject to extension up to project closing date based on project needs, funds availability, and satisfactory performance. The position shall be based in Nairobi, Kenya, at the TDB Tower, 184 Lenana Road with travels to TDB member countries.

Minimum Qualification and Experience Requirements Minimum of a Masters’ degree in business administration, Accounting, Banking, Finance, Economics, or related field Minimum of 10 years general working experience in Finance with a Development Finance Institution, a Commercial Bank or Financial Advisory Firm. A minimum of 8 years of specific experience in project/ corporate finance in similar assignments. A minimum of 3 years of specific experience in financing renewable energy, clean cooking or distributed energy systems is required.
