Job Title: Shop Business Executive

Employment Terms: Annual Contract

Location: Nairobi

JOB PURPOSE

The Shop Business Executive will be responsible for driving the growth, performance, and operational excellence of the convenience shop business across the service station network. The role entails overseeing day-to-day shop operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and standards, monitoring sales performance and profitability, and implementing standardized processes to enhance efficiency, customer experience, and consistent service delivery across all locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop layouts for new shops and identify stations that could support retail operations.

Lead shop modernization programs including layout optimization, planograms, and space productivity

Drive non-fuel income growth through category expansion, food-to-go concepts, and strategic retail partnerships

Identify and implement initiatives to increase basket size, footfall conversion, and gross margin performance.

Develop assortment strategies based on consumer insights and local demographics

Support supplier negotiations, rebate agreements, joint business planning, and promotional calendars to ensure timely and effective execution across the network.

Monitor pricing competitiveness versus modern trade and informal retail.

Provide training and guidance on merchandising, stock management, and retail execution standards.

Regularly visit service stations to ensure operational compliance and support retail initiatives.

Ensure alignment with HSSE and company governance requirements

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related discipline.

Minimum 3 years’ experience in Supermarket retail management, OR FMCG category management/trade marketing, OR Multi-site retail operations.

Experience in petroleum retail or forecourt convenience operations is an added advantage.

Proven track record of driving sales growth and margin improvement across multiple outlets.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Strong background in supplier negotiations and joint business planning.

Strong commercial and financial acumen.

Negotiation and stakeholder management expertise.

Ability to influence dealers and cross-functional teams.

High level of integrity and governance awareness.

Willingness and ability to travel frequently to service stations.
