SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Location: Nairobi (Mombasa Road)
About Us
Gas & Go is a growing company operating within the petroleum, retail, and logistics sectors. We are seeking a highly competent, experienced, and results-driven Senior Accountant to join our team and take full responsibility for the company’s accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and financial management functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Manage cash flow, working capital requirements, and liquidity planning.
- Perform bank, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations including VAT, PAYE, NSSF, SHA, corporate tax, and other regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and coordinate annual audits and respond to auditor queries.
- Monitor inventory controls, stock movements, stock valuations, and variance reporting.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, financial models, and management reports.
- Liaise with banks, suppliers, auditors, insurance providers, and regulatory authorities.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Support management with financial analysis and strategic decision-making.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior accounting staff where applicable.
Qualifications and Experience
- CPA(K) qualification is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant accounting experience, with at least two (2) years in a senior accounting position.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws, financial reporting standards, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software, preferably SAP.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within petroleum, retail, logistics, FMCG, or other inventory-intensive industries.
- Experience managing large supplier accounts and working capital facilities.
- Strong understanding of inventory controls, stock reconciliations, and cost management.
- Experience dealing with banks, financing facilities, and audit processes.
