Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Diploma in Medical imaging sciences

Higher Diploma in Ultrasound.
-
Registered with The Kenya Radiation Protection Board.

2 years work experience in Radiology/Ultrasound in a busy hospital.

To undertake initial patient evaluation, provide diagnostic radiographs, perform ultrasound and Doppler examinations by capturing images of diagnostic value.

Explaining the ultrasound procedure to patients and answering any questions they may have.

Maintaining the ultrasound equipment and maintaining the room in which the procedure takes place.

Performing the ultrasound ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images of every angle/section that must be assessed and ensuring the images are of best quality.

Maintaining patient’s records and adding medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure if necessary.

Ensure radiation safety measures and protection are observed to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety to patient’s staff and self.

Ensure scheduled maintenance, and calibration of medical equipment’s are in place and followed.

Ensure accurate documentation and care of patients’ records.
-
Liaising with doctors and other medical staff to clarify ambiguous radiology requests to prevent service anomalies;

Review Patient Reports to ensure that they are accurate before sign off; and documenting and reporting all the faults on the machines to recommended authorities.
