Our approach to care is guided by our core principles of Quality, Access, Impact and Relevance.​Responsibilities: Performs assessment of patients pre, during and post dialysis. Interprets assessment data in order to determine, together with the physician the correct treatment plan. Commences patients on dialysis, monitors them during procedure and successfully disconnects them at completion of treatment Administers prescribed medications and other treatments as per physician orders Closely monitors the functioning of dialysis equipment during procedure promptly attending to alarms. Identifies dialysis reaction or change in patient condition and notifies the physician when necessary. Provide safe environment for patients through adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies, timely safety checks on dialysis machines, beds, IV pumps and oxygen source. Provides expertise, training and support for the ward nurses to perform peritoneal dialysis. Identify patient and family education needs and implement appropriate teaching. Ensures accurate and timely documentation of vital observations, dialysis progress and medications given. Be accountable for judicious and efficient use of resources i.e. accurate and timely billing of ward stock drugs and consumables. Care for equipment through cleaning, storage, per shift check of the inventory and timely reporting and follow up of nonfunctional equipment to the unit supervisor. Participates in unit based continuous education, quality improvement (QI) projects, Clinical Care Program Certification (CCPC) audits, spot checks and skill checks. Assist the supervisor with orientation and mentoring of new nurses and students. May assist in Med-Surg units and in Kidney Transplant program Requirements: KRCHN /BScN from a recognized school of Nursing or University Current Licensure with the Nursing council of Kenya Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) Demonstrate evidence based knowledge of current practices in Renal nursing Demonstrate Leadership and management skills
