Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) is a non-denominational Technical , Vocational & Education Training (TVET) Institute under the Ministry of Education State Department of Vocational & Technical Training. It is located 14 kilometres from the City of Nairobi along Kiambu Road and 1 kilometer from Kiambu Town. It was built through Harambee effort by the local people and some generous donations from two Protestant church organizations I.C.C.O. of Netherlands and E.Z.E. of Germany. KIST admitted the first batch of 125 students, 75 male and 50 female in September 1973. Over the years KIST has diversfied in offering more than 40 courses in Diplomas, Certificates and Artisan Programs. Since its inception KIST has produced graduates who fit globally competitive needs of modern employees and the merging challenges The Board of Governors (BOG) which is appointed by the Ministry of Education in consultation with the stakeholders oversees the day-to-day runing of the institute. The core function of KIST is to provide training in TVET programme and promote research,innovations and technological development. KIST is ISO 9001:2015 certified and has a holistic approach to training,aimed at achieving Kenya Industrialization as envisaged in the Vision 2030. The institute has actively participated in National TVET trade Fairs, Robots contests and sports both at the regional and National levelsAdvert No. KINAP/HR/03/2026 DRIVING SCHOOL INSTRUCTOR (1 POST) Minimum Requirements Instructors Licence NTSA Accredited Instructor Training Certificate from an approved Institution Have the requisite Driving Licence Class B and C Conversant with NTSA Act and Regulations Knowledge of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Minimum two years working experience in Instructing. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct) Good Communication skills, Interpersonal skills, Organizational skills, Report writing and Time Management Skills. Possess Business Development acumen. Duties and responsibilities. Develop lesson plans and design curriculum to ensure all areas of driving course work are covered Teach students motor vehicle operation, road rules and safe driving practices to impart driving skills Provide practical driving lessons on the road to ensure lesson learnt in class are put into practice Monitor student's driving, offering advice and assistance as needed to help the students develop their driving skills. Instruct students on the basic operation of a vehicle, defensive driving techniques and minor car maintenance Assess student's class work and driving abilities to provide a basis of recommending issuance of driver's license to students who qualify. Ensure proper use, care and maintenance of Driving School Vehicles
