Automotive Shop Manager / Supervisor

This role is ideal for a proactive leader who possesses strong hands-on automotive knowledge, excellent interpersonal abilities, and a proven track record of managing technical teams to deliver outstanding service and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations & Workflow Management

· Oversee the day-to-day productivity of the car wash, service bays, mechanical workshop and paint shop.

· Coordinate daily job scheduling and workflow allocation to maximize throughput and minimize vehicle turnaround times (TAT).

· Implement stringent quality control checks before vehicles are released to customers.

2. Customer Experience & Relationship Management

· Act as the primary point of contact for clients, handling vehicle intake, diagnostic explanations, cost estimations, and service recommendations.

· Resolve customer complaints professionally, ensuring high retention and word-of-mouth referrals.

· Educate clients on preventive vehicle maintenance and transparently explain technical repairs.

3. Team Leadership & Accountability

· Supervise, mentor and motivate a multidisciplinary team of mechanics, technicians, painters and car wash attendants.

· Conduct regular briefings to align the team on daily targets, safety protocols, and service standards.

· Monitor individual staff performance and foster a culture of accountability and precision.

4. Commercial Execution, Marketing & Social Media

· Identify and execute opportunities to upsell value-added offerings and preventive maintenance packages.

· Track daily, weekly, and monthly revenue performance against established business targets.

· Support marketing and customer retention initiatives, including capturing content (e.g., before/after photos, brief service clips) and maintaining an active, professional presence on company social media platforms.

5. Inventory & Asset Management

· Monitor and manage stock levels of parts, consumables, specialized paints, and workshop cleaning agents.

· Coordinate procurement to avoid service delays while preventing overstocking.

· Enforce strict maintenance schedules for all workshop tools, lifts, diagnostic machines, and facility infrastructure.

6. Compliance & Safety

· Enforce workplace safety standards, clean workshop practices, and relevant environmental and county regulations.

· Maintain comprehensive, organized vehicle service histories and job cards.

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

· Experience: Minimum 2 years of direct experience in workshop supervision, automotive service management, or running a busy auto care facility.

· Technical Knowledge: Strong practical understanding of general vehicle maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, car wash workflows, and automotive refinishing (paint/bodywork).

· Digital Literacy: Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office, email) and a strong comfort level with social media posting, content updates, and customer engagement online.

· Skills: Excellent customer service, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.

· Traits: Self-driven, highly organized, and capable of managing a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

· Diploma or Certificate in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Motor Vehicle Technology, or a closely related technical field.

· Proven experience setting up workflow systems or managing inventory controls in an automotive setup.
