Purpose of the Role The Associate MEP Engineer is responsible for supporting the delivery of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) aspects of iColo's data center construction projects. The role assists in ensuring that MEP works are executed to the highest quality standards and in accordance with project-specific cost, schedule, safety, and operational requirements. Key Responsibilities Project Management: Achieve a detailed understanding of contract documents (drawings and specifications), phasing plans, MEP systems interrelationships, construction sequencing, and project schedule. Review construction documents for completeness and constructability. 4-eyes check of prepared RFP and issuing to consultants, contractors and suppliers. Prepare draft analysis for review of proposals from consultants, contractors & suppliers and prepare analysis. Review and update responsibility matrix for projects and identifying any scope overlaps, gaps and creeps. Assist in review and preparation of design and project risk logs. Review and comment on project schedule received from contractors and suppliers Assist in overseeing the installation of MEP work and direct, monitor, and control the activities of MEP Subcontractors. Collaborate with other departments to ensure project timelines, resources, and inspections support the project schedule. Technical Support: First review of designs, drawings, schematics & documentation received from consultants. Assist in problem-solving discussions, as may arise, between MEP Subcontractors during construction by retaining a log of the same and ensuring they are closed out. Retain log for RFIs and technical submittals to ensure all are responded to and feedback given to contractors in a timely manner. Assist in the testing and commissioning of MEP equipment by ensuring all documentation is put together. Manage all materials necessary for commissioning (Loadbanks, containments, power loggers, thermal imagers, etc) Reporting and Documentation: Ensure accurate logging and updating of all MEP changes and as-built information on field drawings. Ensure all handover documents (SOO, manuals, warranties etc) from suppliers and contractors is received and saved as required. Ensure that site specific capacity planners are updated in line with expansion plans and in case of equipment updates. Prepare monthly technical reports for review and circulation by MEP engineer. Compliance and Safety: Ensure that MEP Subcontractors provide and adhere to relevant Quality documentation/records. Ensure that MEP Subcontractors adhere to Project safety regulations. Implement and manage the company's Zero Injury and safely powering on Program at project sites. Required Skills and Experience: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline; +4 years of experience in the field of MEP engineering. Expert knowledge of plans prints and specifications. Excellent communication, and organizational skills. Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD and construction project management software. Good to have: LEED accreditation is a plus. Experience building large scale facilities such as data centers. Current driver’s license. Willingness to travel to project locations as required.
