The Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK) was established in 1948 as the premier professional body for the insurance and financial planning community in Kenya. We are dedicated to promoting professional standards, providing world-class education, and advancing the interests of our members. Originally formed as an affiliate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (London), the Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK) charted its own path in 2002 when it was officially registered as a society by the Registrar of Societies. Over the years, IIK has grown into the heartbeat of Kenya’s insurance profession, setting standards, shaping careers, and driving excellence. In 2025, a historic milestone was achieved: IIK was granted full statutory recognition under the Insurance Professionals Act, 2025. This landmark legislation elevated IIK from an industry-recognized body to a legally established professional body, entrusted with regulating, licensing, and advancing insurance practitioners across the country.
