ABOUT BABA NYUMBANI Baba Nyumbani is a faith-rooted micro-village of comprehensive care for orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya. We exist because every child deserves safety, nourishment, love and a future. For over two decades, we have delivered on that belief through housing, health care, nutrition, education and life-skills programming. Equipping children not just to survive, but to flourish. Our model is clear: from crisis to capability. We do not create dependency. We build self-sustaining, dignified futures. Approximately 3.6 million children in Kenya are classified as orphaned or vulnerable. Baba Nyumbani exists to be a faithful, consistent and effective answer to that reality.

ABOUT THE ROLE These are not jobs in the ordinary sense. They are a calling. Baba Nyumbani is seeking devoted, mature individuals to live on-site within our community and become family to the children in our care. This posting covers two connected roles: Relief Village Aunt A devoted caregiver who supports the lead household and steps fully into the parenting role whenever the House Parents are away — on leave, in training, or otherwise absent. This role is ideal for someone with relationalmaturity, flexibility, and a genuine heart for children, who is ready to provide consistent, loving continuity for the home. It is also a meaningful path toward becoming a future Lead House Parent. This role requires living on-site, full presence in the daily life of the home, and a long-term commitment to the children in your care. These children have often experienced loss and instability. What they need most is constancy and that is what these roles exist to provide.

Responsibilities • Provide daily nurturing care for children in the home — meals, routines, hygiene, rest, homework support, and emotional presence • Create and maintain a warm, safe, orderly, and loving household environment that feels like a true family home • Model healthy relationships, communication, conflict resolution, and life skills through everyday example • Support each child's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual development in partnership with the program team • Work closely with Baba Nyumbani's social workers to support each child's individual care plan and flag any concerns promptly • Uphold and embody the organization's child safeguarding policies at all times, without exception • Manage the household's day-to-day domestic operations and budget responsibly and transparently • Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and team meetings to continually grow in the role Additional Responsibilities • Step fully into the parenting and household leadership role whenever the Lead Couple is absent • Provide consistent, seamless continuity of care so children experience stability even during transitions • Support the Lead Couple in the daily running of the home during normal operations • Build genuine, trusting relationships with the children independent of the Lead Couple's presence

WHAT WE OFFER We know that asking someone to live this role fully means caring for them fully in return. Baba Nyumbani provides a complete support structure for our residential caregivers. • Full on-site accommodation — your home within our community • Utilities provided: water, electricity, and cooking fuel • A competitive salary in addition to the above • Statutory benefits in compliance with Kenyan law: NSSF, SHIF health coverage, and Housing Levy contributions on the cash salary component • Comprehensive initial training and ongoing professional development in child care, child psychology, and family-based care • Regular supervision and emotional support from our social work and program teams • Annual leave and rest provision, with the Relief Aunt ensuring continuity of care • Above all — the profound privilege of shaping the lives of children who need exactly what you have to give

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR This role calls for character far more than credentials. The right person brings patience, warmth, steadiness, and a deep, durable love for children. The following describe the qualities and experience we are seeking.

Required Qualities & Experience • A genuine, demonstrated heart for children and a sincere desire to provide them a loving, stable home • Maturity, emotional stability, and the personal resilience to provide constancy for children who have experienced loss • Prior experience raising children, caring for children, or working in a child care, caregiving, teaching, or family support setting • The patience and presence to live fully on-site and make this a long-term commitment • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to model healthy relationships, communication, and conflict resolution • The maturity and confidence to provide guidance and have difficult conversations with both children and adults when needed • Sound character, integrity, and a lifestyle consistent with serving as a role model to children • Ability to communicate warmly with children and the local community • Willingness to undergo training, supervision, and continuous learning in the role • Full commitment to child safeguarding and the values of Baba Nyumbani • Availability, flexibility, and readiness to step into full household leadership as needed Assets & Nice-to-Have Qualifications Not required, but valued: • Formal training or certification in early childhood development, child care, social work, counselling, or a related field • Experience in a temporary residential care, foster care, or community caregiving setting • Training in trauma-informed care, child psychology, or psychosocial support • Basic household financial management and budgeting experience • Experience caring for children with diverse needs, including those affected by trauma, illness, or disability • Personal alignment with the faith-based values and mission of Baba Nyumbani
