Mount Kenya University is ISO 9001:2008 Certified and also a member of Inter-University Council for East Africa and Association of Common Wealth UniversitiesRequirements Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field Prior training experience Certified trainer with relevant maritime safety qualifications (e.g., STCW, IMO Model Courses) Strong knowledge of international maritime safety regulations and standards Minimum of 2-3 years’ sea service and prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable Registered member of a relevant professional body in good standing will be an added advantage Key responsibilities also include Duties and responsibilities; Develop and deliver training programs on maritime safety, including: STCW safety courses (e.g., Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention and Firefighting, First Aid) Risk assessment and hazard identification Emergency preparedness and response Safety management systems (SMS) and ISM Code compliance Conduct classroom and practical training sessions using modern instructional techniques Evaluate trainee performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement Maintain and update training materials in line with regulatory changes and industry best practices Support audits and inspections related to safety training and compliance
