Key Responsibilities

Client Accounting

• Prepare and maintain accurate books of accounts for a portfolio of clients, including general ledger postings, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures

• Prepare management accounts and financial reports in line with client requirements and applicable reporting standards (IFRS)

• Perform bank, supplier, and intercompany reconciliations

• Assist with year-end financial statement preparation and support external audit processes

• Maintain organized and complete client accounting records and supporting documentation

Client Tax Compliance

• Prepare and file statutory tax returns, including VAT, corporate income tax, withholding tax, and installment tax, via the KRA iTax platform

• Monitor client tax compliance calendars to ensure all filing and payment deadlines are met

• Assist in responding to KRA queries, audits, and compliance checks

• Support the preparation of tax computations and reconciliations

• Keep abreast of changes in Kenyan tax legislation and communicate implications to the team and clients

Payroll & PAYE

• Process monthly payrolls for client employees accurately and on time

• Compute and file PAYE, NSSF, SHIF/NHIF, Housing Levy, and other statutory deductions

• Prepare payslips, payroll journals, and payroll reports for clients

• Handle employee onboarding/offboarding updates in payroll systems

• Reconcile payroll records and resolve discrepancies promptly

General & Client Service

• Serve as a day-to-day contact for assigned clients, responding to queries professionally and promptly

• Support onboarding of new clients, including setup of accounting, tax, and payroll records

• Assist with billing, engagement documentation, and internal reporting

• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and maintain internal quality standards

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager

Qualifications & Experience

• CPA (K) or CPS (K); full qualification is an added advantage

• 1–3 years of relevant experience in accounting, tax compliance, or payroll, preferably in a professional services or outsourcing environment

• Working knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and statutory requirements (KRA iTax, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy)

• Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar) and strong MS Excel skills

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

• Ability to manage multiple client deadlines and prioritize effectively

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Swahili is an advantage

• High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential client information

• Team player with a proactive, client-focused attitude and willingness to learn
