The Aga Khan University is a private, autonomous university that promotes human welfare through research, teaching and community service initiatives. The Aga Khan University is one of nine agencies in the Aga Khan Development Network.Roles and Responsibilities Specific responsibilities will include: Lead the operational and strategic planning of the Medical College’s Undergraduate Educational Programmes within the Faculty of Health Sciences through the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education, including curriculum leadership, academic governance, academic calendar development, and programme delivery; Participate in the strategic planning activities of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Aga Khan University (AKU) more broadly; Provide oversight of the Undergraduate Medical Education programme and overall responsibility for student welfare; Provide supervision and mentorship to faculty who have taken on specific educational leadership roles within the Medical College; Support the Office of the Dean in recruitment of all educational leadership roles within the College and specific responsibility for recruitment and performance review of Directors within the Undergraduate Medical Education portfolio; Lead the development, implementation and quality review of all undergraduate programs of the College, including curriculum design and review, teaching and learning quality, programme evaluation, and continuous quality improvement; Establish strong working relationships with the leadership of other entities within AKU to ensure coordinated planning, implementation and quality control of common programmes; Establish liaison with the Registrar’s Office, Examination Board and other AKU and AKDN entities to coordinate student intake, teaching and learning quality, examinations, assessment and progression, academic calendar and delivery and overall student academic experience; Develop the budget for Undergraduate programmes and have overall responsibility for the financial resources dedicated to undergraduate medical programmes; Contribute to and provide leadership in educational scholarship; Lead and participate in relevant academic and educational committees; Ensure compliance with the national regulators and the licensing bodies, including accreditation and quality assurance requirements; Provide liaison to the AKUHN and other AKHS facilities in relation to educational goals and activities, including clinical education and the quality of students’ clinical learning experiences; Provide liaison to local, regional and international governments, universities and professional bodies related to education; Provide academic liaison to AKU-wide activities and to AKDN. The requirements Master of Medicine or an Equivalent; A Diploma in Medical Education or equivalent would be an added advantage; Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Medical Education at senior academic level; Appointable in the academic rank of Associate Professor or higher; Registered or eligible to be registered  with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board; Competent practitioner recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board; A record of scholarships in education and substantial achievements in educational programme development and implementation; Experience in writing, designing and implementation of curriculum and an innovative thinker; Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with strong communication skills.
