Role Description The Procurement Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Nairobi County, Kenya, supporting county operations through efficient and compliant acquisition of goods, works, and services. The role involves managing end-to-end procurement processes, including needs assessment, preparation of procurement plans, solicitation of quotations or tenders, and processing purchase requisitions and purchase orders in line with applicable laws and policies. The Procurement Officer will evaluate bids, participate in vendor selection and contract negotiation, and ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and properly filed. Daily tasks include tracking deliveries, resolving supply issues, monitoring supplier performance, and preparing regular reports on procurement activities and budget utilization. The role also supports internal stakeholders by providing guidance on procurement procedures, ensuring ethical standards, value for money, and adherence to public procurement regulations. Qualifications
Strong procurement and purchasing skills, with experience in public sector or institutional procurement processes. Ability to prepare, manage, and track purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls. Proficiency in contract negotiation, including terms, pricing, and service levels, while maintaining ethical and legal standards. Well-developed analytical skills to compare supplier offers, assess total cost of ownership, and support data-driven decisions. Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification in procurement or supply chain (e.g., CIPS or equivalent) is an added advantage. Good knowledge of Kenyan public procurement laws, regulations, and county government procedures. Proficiency in MS Office and experience with procurement or ERP systems. Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills, with attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, uphold integrity, and handle confidential information appropriately.
